{Baby Vesper @ 5 weeks}

October 5th, 2011

I photographed this blue eyed baby girl at 5 weeks, her parents told me that her name came from the movie. Can you all guess which one it is? – beautiful Ava Green played Vesper Lynd on Casino Royal (2006) .  She does have gorgeous blue eyes too.  I photographed her parent’s intimate wedding in 2008 and they now have two adorable children.

Some of the traditional poses that I love. Robin had framed a image that I created for her and Miles.

so I recreated similar for her and Vesper. Such a beautiful mother and daughter moment.

Tried family portrait but we were having too much fun! Let’s try that again in few months Vesper is wrapped in the towel that her dad was wrapped in as baby.

Robin’s parents came to help with the session but of course we wanted them in the photos! I love dynamics of this image.

I was being too brave thinking that I can do formal portraits with 2 year old

I love how moment likes just unfold itself. Miles works out with Granpa Charlie all the time!

I photographed Miles on this little bench when he was a tiny newborn.

This 2 year old boy is so well behaved,  he even helped me test the light for his little sister.

 He is such a ham! I have too many great images of him to choose from.

This one is for his auntie who sent German books for him, yes he is bilingual. Perfekt!

You probably think that I asked Miles to  kiss Vesper, wrong he just did that his own many times through out the session.

So sweet!

Andy grabbed this instant moment good work honey!

Los Angeles Family Photographer { JISOO @ 5months }

September 20th, 2011

Last week, I had a chance to photograph this beautiful little baby girl in Downtown L.A. Her session was scheduled for 5pm and it’s probably the latest I’ve ever photographed the baby in my entire career. Babies and Children normally do better in the mornings but Jisoo was an exceptional baby.  For many years, I watched Jisoo’s parents anxiously waiting for her arrival. She is such a precious little girl and I am pretty sure her parents feels as though it was worth all the wait and the trouble they had to go through. I feel lucky to be able to document her life and watch her grow.

This is the first greeting I received from Jisoo at 5:30pm

Can you guess where she got her cute dimples from?

she was totally working the camera!

Too cute to describe!

It was bit too late for the sunset shot but we were able to grab few family portraits from their rooftop patio.

Bit of reality check for photographers, but I love her face even when she is crying. This happens to be her dad’s favorite look so I am posting it anyway!

Boston Wedding Photographer {Mayumi + Greg}

May 27th, 2011

Congratulations Mayumi & Greg,
Thank you for having us to part of your wedding day.
Mayumi and Greg met at the local church. They chose to get married in beautiful The Park Street Church in Boston & their reception was held at Harvard Club of Boston main house. Both venues had such a wonderful coordinators to work with and I was so impressed how organized everything was. I can’t thank everyone enough for working with LA photographers who demanded much of their time. And a very special thank you goes out to Peter,Jennifer and Maria at Harvard Club, you made me feel so great to photograph at your venue. I would return to photograph events for you guys anytime! Wedding day schedule always runs late, I didn’t have much time with bride and groom but here is what I was able to capture of their wedding day! Of course AK was my 1st lead photographer for this wedding.

I love to travel and I travel as often as I could. So you can only imagine how excited I become about destination weddings. As much as it is challenging to photograph in different environment and tricky to travel with photography equipments, I am thrilled when I get asked to photograph destination weddings. The new location can work as a muse for me. So when I heard from Mayumi that she will be getting married this spring in Boston, I was thrilled for 2 reasons. One, I was happy for my good friend found who found her Mr. Perfect. Two, I was happy to go back to Boston in the spring. I love any places that I can use public transportation and walk around without worrying about my safety too much. This way I can photograph things freely without worrying about finding parking.

We had initially planned to do a quick casual session in the city before Saturday but we got rained out. To tell you the truth, I would have so gone for romantic rainy day couple’s session but rain came with the storm. Being a wedding photographer is like being a therapist at times; Mayumi texted me that she felt little overwhelmed to do casual session on Thursday so I backed out. It would have been so great to have that romantic rainy day session for them and for my portfolio but what’s also important to me is that my client feels relaxed in front of my camera. I learned to balance two things as I became more experienced with weddings. It’s not about how many images I create; it’s whether I can create “That” one strong image which has impact on their life. The image so strong that can bring them right back to where they started their life as a husband and a wife. Mayumi & Greg, I hope I got that one image for you to to treasure.

When Mayumi sent me a quick photo of her dress, I suggested that she add sash. She picked out this beautiful one. I am all for “Less is More” but when your venue is dark and everything else is simple, the bride should stand out. Plus you only get married once right?

Adorable ring bearer Sam & Flower girl Jenny, they danced together all night!

Love Mayumi’s mischievous smile on this image

AK caught this beautiful moment when I was photographing them on the other side.

Published in Anhelo Wedding Magazine in Japan

May 7th, 2011

I received my copy of February 2011 issue of Anhelo magazine a while back in the mail.  It is definitely one of the highlights of my career; seeing my work printed on a magazine.  End of last year,  Anhelo contacted me to submitted few images that showed different hair pieces and dresses of modern brides. I never submitted my work to magazines mostly because I never felt like my work was good enough. As an artist, I go through that pretty often but this time they came searching for me. so when they approached me,  I was flattered and honored.  It really is a small image amongst other beautiful images but I feel incredible honored to be surrounded by whose work I admire. And also it made me feel good to have this particular bride’s photo published because this job made me validate my own work.   I hope this is only beginning of many good news of this year. So mom, I hope you are proud of me and happy mother’s day!

New Jersey Wedding Photographer {Jacqueline + Gregory} part I

April 1st, 2011

Congratulations again Jacqueline and Gregory !

We ended my 2010 with Jacqueline and Gregory’s engagement session and our first wedding of 2011 was theirs in different state.

My talented friend Leslie and I collaborated for this destination wedding. This is our second time working together and I have to say, we make a great pair. Andy may lose his title as  a second lead photographer soon.

We were thinking that we can add “Girl Friend Getaway” in New York, but it was raining that whole week so we when  to Mahwah, NJ directly and boy we are glad that we did because the rain delayed all the flights.

Here is tip for destination photographers and couples that are planning to destination wedding :

1. Take the earliest flight available  or an over night flight, according the the survey those flights are least likely to get delayed.

2. Get there 3 days prior to wedding, so even if you are delayed  you still have enough time to make necessary changes.

Jacqueline and Gregory looked even more gorgeous for their wedding day!

Bride and Groom opted see each other before the ceremony, I was thrilled to set up their first look.

I almost took out first shot that Greg’s moving his mouth but I saw his eyes tearing up.  This is why I love my job, catching moments that are easily missed other wise.

Here are few that we were able to capture before their candlelight ceremony.

Jacqueline, I know I made you walk on that wet ground and you were not happy with me. I hope these images can justify why I had to ask for that 15minutes.

You and Greg look stunning in these photos. Thank you for being understanding.

I was fortunate to work with amazingly kind and talented vendors, another reason that I love Jacqueline!
